The remarkable Golden Legacy Illustrated History Series is a 16 volume classic collection of role models and heroes of African descent whose images will not fade or tarnish….THEY INSPIRE!!!

One of our Golden Legacy readers, Amma Ghartey-Tagoe, a high school junior from Manhattan, Kansas won the 1997 National History Day Grand Prize Award of a $60,000. College scholarship was inspired by our Golden Legacy title, Volume 10, Joseph Cinque and the Amistad Mutiny, that was given to her by her mother. Her teacher, Mickey Bogart, won the History Channel’s $5,000 Mentors Award! Read some of what this student wrote in the National History Day NEWS, a publication that is dedicated to promoting the Study of History in Schools, issued the Summer of 1996:

[quote]I had come to National History Day representing not only my state but all of the hard work and people who had made it possible for me to have this experience of a lifetime. And now I would receive the highest honor possible…My topic was Joseph Cinque and the Amistad Incident. If anyone had asked me to explain the Amistad Incident for $60,000. Before this project, I don’t think I even could have answered that it was a part of American history.  From a historical ‘comic book’ (Golden Legacy)  my mother excitedly passed on the heroic story of an African who fought for his freedom on a Spanish slave ship and then through a whirlwind of events ended up in our Supreme Court.[/quote]

The Golden Legacy Illustrated History Series is truly an Inspirational Series that has motivated many youngsters to accomplish their dreams and become role models themselves!!!

Darryl E. Roberts, a 23 year old young man from Brooklyn, N.Y. was inspired by our title on Matthew Henson and his historic expedition with Commander Peary to the North Pole! As a result, Darryl Roberts was motivated to join an international delegation, ICEWALK that was timed to commemorate and celebrate the 80th anniversary of that historic landmark in polar exploration!!!

ICEWALK, the first truly international expedition to the North Pole, embarked in December Of 1988 from the northernmost point of Canada, Cape Columbia, on a 65 day, 489 mile trek on foot to the North Pole to carry out scientific studies to determine levels of various pollutants in the Artic atmosphere!!!
